Glennville Recreation Department’s wrapped up the All-Star season this past week with three teams competing in the GRPA State Tournament; 8U Boys, 8U Girls and 12U Girls. To be eligible to participate teams must finish in 1st or 2nd place in their district tournament.

The 12U girls finished up with the highest honor for the department this year, as Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) District 1 Champions and GRPA Class C Runners-Up They won 8 straight games between the district and state tourney run before falling just short in the championship round to Long County.

“These girls are incredibly talented, the sky is the limit for them. Even though we came up a little short of our ultimate goal, I’m still immensely proud of how they played on the field and how they carried themselves off the field. I can’t thank this coaching staff enough for pouring their time and knowledge into these kids to set them up for success,” said Glennville Recreation Department Director Logan McCullough. The 8U District One Runner Ups saved their best game for the first round of the State tournament. Glennville beat Lanier County by a score of 14-8. Unfortunately, the 8U girls could not duplicate that same momentum, as they lost the next two games to a very talented duo in Long County and Jeff Davis.
