The North Tattnall County Middle School (NTMS) Warriors’ basketball teams played host to the Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) Patriots on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at historic Billy Bland Memorial Gymnasium in Reidsville. Pinewood won both games.  The Lady Patriots won over the Lady Warriors, 35-19. Pinewood also won the boys’ game, 39-15.

In girls’ action, Pinewood took control early by sprinting out to a 15-2 lead after one quarter. From there, they cruised the rest of the way to victory. Taylor Bland led Pinewood with 13 points; she was followed by Ada Grace Hendrix with 12 points. North Tattnall was led by Violet Shuman with 9 points, Lila-Mae Register and Janiyah Mayner had 4 points each, and Laegan Prigeon added 2 points.

During the boys’ contest, North Tattnall trailed Pinewood by only 3 points at the end of the first period, 5-8. But the Warriors couldn’t hit the side of a barn in the second quarter, as they went scoreless in the period.  Meanwhile, the Patriots reeled off 10 unanswered points to take an 18-5 halftime lead. In the second half, Pinewood put the game on ice by racing out a 35-12 lead heading into the 4th quarter. Both teams used their reserves throughout the first period, and Pinewood coasted to a 39-15 win.

Conner Denton led Pinewood with 11 points. He was followed by Clayton Cloud with 9 points. North Tattnall was led by MJ Foreman with 4 points, and Destyn Highsmith had 3 points.
