The Tattnall County Middle School Lady Warriors enjoyed a perfect day on the softball field while making an even bigger impact off of it, winning the Coaches vs. Cancer Softball Tournament hosted by the Glennville Recreation Department and helping raise $3,850 for Tattnall C.A.R.E.S. (Cancer Association Relief Effort and Support). The Lady Warriors finished the tournament with an undefeated 4-0 record, capturing the championship while supporting a cause that means so much to the Tattnall County community.
Tattnall County opened pool play with a dominant 14-0 victory over Bulloch Academy. Mia Page earned the win in the circle, allowing just one hit in a commanding performance. Audrey McGlashan paced the offense with two RBIs.
In the second pool game, the Lady Warriors defeated William James, 19-3, after erupting for 12 runs in the opening inning. Camryn Colwell highlighted the offensive explosion with a double and a two-run home run in the first inning. Tinsley Alexander and Mia Page each collected two hits, while Colwell picked up the victory in the circle.
Following the lunch break, single-elimination play began. Tattnall County advanced to the championship game with a 5-3 semifinal victory over Bulloch Academy. Adalynn Callaway earned the win on the mound, while Callaway, Alexander, and McGlashan led the offensive attack.
The championship game provided the day's biggest challenge. Facing Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA), the Lady Warriors fell behind, 4-0, before responding in impressive fashion. Tattnall County exploded for 14 runs to claim a 14-6 championship victory, completing the undefeated tournament run.
Colwell earned her second pitching victory of the day, while Emerie Lott delivered a standout performance at the plate with three hits. Page, Colwell, and McGlashan each added two hits in the title game. Defensively, Emerson Maybin continued her outstanding play in the outfield, helping secure the championship.
Several Lady Warriors were recognized for their outstanding performances by being named to the Coaches vs. Cancer All-Tournament Team. Those honored included Adalynn Callaway, Tinsley Alexander, Camryn Colwell, Mia Page, Emerie Lott, Audrey McGlashan, Emerson Maybin, Camden Quarles, and Kinzleigh Autry. Colwell was also selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Following the tournament, Coach Todd expressed his appreciation to the many parents, volunteers, and community members who helped make the event a success.

Lady Warriors second baseman Camden Quarles perhaps summed up the day's true meaning best.
"I think giving back to Tattnall C.A.R.E.S. is important because they help men and women going through cancer by helping them with meals and gas," Quarles said. "This is important to me because I lost both of my grandfathers to cancer. It was generous of people from our community to come out to support and give their money, time, and effort for Tattnall C.A.R.E.S. and Tattnall County Middle School softball."
While the championship trophy was a fitting reward for an outstanding day on the field, the Lady Warriors' greatest accomplishment was helping make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families battling cancer. Their undefeated performance and the $3,850 raised for Tattnall C.A.R.E.S. ensured the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament was a victory for the entire community.
