GRD and RRD All-star teams perform well at District, some advance to State Tournament

Glennville (GRD) and Reidsville (RRD) Recreation Departments were well represented at the 2022 Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) District Tournament, which ended in early June 2022. 

The GRD 12U girls have advanced to the State tournament, slated for June 21 through 23. The 12U girls advanced from the loser’s bracket to the District Championship against Wheeler County on June 8. They won game one 11-4 and came up just one run short of winning the Championship. 

Glennville’s 8U boys and 8U girls came up a little short in district play but showed a lot of growth throughout the season, GRD Director Logan McCullough said. The 10U boys and 10U girls both walked away with two wins in the district tournament, with the 10U girls placing third in their bracket. 

 “We want to thank our coaches, parents, and players for an awesome all-star season,” GRD Director McCullough said. “I am very proud of the way our teams represented Glennville at the Lyons and District tournaments. I am grateful for the level of support our families have shown. 

For Reidsville, the 8u girls went 2-2 and finished second in Claxton, qualifying for State in Baxley. The 8u boys went 3-2 to finish second in Sylvania, qualifying for State in Sylvania. 

Reidsville’s 10u girls went 0-2 in Sylvania, and the 10u boys went 2-2 in Claxton. The 12u girls went 0-2 in Reidsville. The 12u boys went 2-2 in Hawkinsville, and the 14u Girls went 1-2 in Reidsville.
