The Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) varsity football team lost their away non-conference game against the Indians of Vidalia High School by a score of 56-16. The Patriots of Bellville found themselves out matched by their much larger and faster opponent in the neighboring Indians.

The Indians scored early in the first with a long pass by the quarterback to a receiver for a 50-yard pass. The PAT was good, and the Patriots began the game down 7-0.

After a turnover on downs by the Patriots, the Indians scored again with a rushing touchdown. The point-after kick was yet again good, and the lead continued for the Indians, 14-0.

The bleeding continued with another rushing touchdown by Vidalia and a complete conversion. The Indians out scored the Patriots 22-0 in the first quarter.

The second quarter began with another score by the Indians. A rushing touchdown by the running back but a missed point-after left the Patriots with a 28 point deficit early in the second quarter.

Further in the second quarter, the Patriots caused a turnover on downs. After another big score by Vidalia, the Patriots did their best to maintain optimism and keep driving against their Georgia High School Association (GHSA) opponent.

Then, late in the second quarter, Ben Swindell intercepted a pass by the Vidalia quarterback and returned the ball for a 42-yard touchdown. After the play, Banks Booth passed to Swindell for a completed two-point conversion. The Patriots entered the locker room down 42-8.

The third quarter continued a Vidalia domination, with the Indians scoring 20 points throughout the quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the final touchdown of the game by the Patriots. Wesley Tippins scored for the Patriots on a run to the end zone. Maddux Lewis caught a pass by Banks Booth for a two-point conversion.

The game ended 56-16 in favor of the Indians.

Walker Todd was the leading tackler for the Patriots with seven.

Although the Patriots found themselves down on the final scoreboard, they returned to Bellville ready to rebuild, rework, and return to the gridiron after an off-week this week.

The Patriots have an off-week this week and will have time for some much needed rest and regrouping. They will return to the field on Friday, September 16, against First Presbyterian Day School. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.
