The Tattnall County High School (TCHS) men’s and women’s 4x100 relay teams will advance to the state meet this week after finishing in the top eight at the state sectionals on Saturday, May 7, 2022, in Commerce. The state finals meet will be held May 12 through May 14 at Carrolton High School.

Seantene Small topped all comers in the girls 100-meter dash with an incredible time of 12.11, a personal best, and will also advance to the state finals. Tamia Brown punched her ticket to the state meet with a fourth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.88. 

The girls 4x100 relay team placed seventh with a time of 50.40. The relay team is composed of Brown, Small, Trinity Robinson, and Jasmine Johnson. 

Johnson also qualified for state in the triple jump with a leap of 32’8”, good for seventh place. 


Other lady warriors who competed at sectionals were:

100-meter dash: Jasmine Johnson, 12th place (12.88)

400-meter dash: Aniyah Conyers, 11th place (1:05.90)

800-meter run: Gladys Cabera, 14th place (3:02.36)

3200 and 1600-meter run: Kinsley Hutcheson, 13th place in both with times of 15.56.62 and 6:57.54

3200-meter run: Lilly Clark, 14th place (16:04.84)

100-meter hurdles: Seantene Small, 9th place (17:39)

4x200 meter relay: Kirstie Collins, Jayla Calhoun, Trinity Robinson, and Aniyah Conyers received 9th place with a time of 1:55.94

4x400 meter relay: Tamia Brown, Trinity Robinson, Aniyah Conyers, and Kirstie Collins received 11th place with a time of 4:46.30

4x800 meter relay: Tamia Brown, Paris Conley, Kinsley Hutcheson, and Gladys Cabrera received 9th place with a time of 12:07.91

High jump: Aniyah Conyers, 12th place (4’6”)

Long jump: Seantene Small, 13th place (14’11”)


The men’s team has a lot of underclassmen, and the experience of performing at the sectionals should pay dividends in the near future.
