Tattnall County girls and boys compete at state track meet

TCHS Warrior and Lady Warrior track team excelled at the state playoffs.

The Tattnall County Battle Creek Warriors ladies and men’s track teams sent several athletes to compete at the 2022 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class AAA state track meet held in Carrollton on May 12 through 14. 

The Lady Warriors qualified in three events during the preliminary rounds. 

Seantene Small placed sixth in the preliminary rounds in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.40. Additionally, Small took seventh place in the finals of the 100-meters with a time of 12.32.

Tamia Brown placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in the preliminary round with a time of 47.26. She then took seventh place in the finals of the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.59.

The lady warriors 4x100 meter relay team of Brown, Small, Trinity Johnson, and Jasmine Johnson had the seventh best time in the preliminary round with a time of 49.54. The ladies then placed eighth in the finals for the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 50.17.

Johnson also placed 13th overall in the triple jump with a leap of 33’10.5”.

The Tattnall County warriors participated in the 4x100 meter relay in the preliminary round. The team of Xavier Friendly, David Hill, Tyrone Brown, and Jeremiah Mayner placed 14th with a time of 44.77. During the field events, Malcolm Addison placed tenth in the triple jump with a mark of 41’9”. Gregory Edwards took 12th place in the discus with a toss of 128 feet. 

As the warrior track and field season ends, the future looks bright for Tattnall County track with a good group of underclassmen returning. The lady warriors will say goodbye to a very special and talented group of senior athletes.
