The South Tattnall Middle School (STMS) chess team competed in the Second Annual Tattnall Throwdown Virtual Scholastic Chess Tournament, held in late February 2022.

Sixth graders Melissa Sheldon and Kaleb McFadden competed along with seventh grader Konner Durrence and eighth grader Juan Martinez.

Four schools total competed: STMS, North Tattnall Middle School (NTMS), Southeast Bulloch (SEB), and Metter Middle School (MMS).  The students competed virtually on chess.com and had to win two of three games.

Chess Club Sponsors Jim and Clarice Shuman are proud of the players they have this year.

“It was a good experience, and we are excited to see what it holds next year,” Clarice said.
