Chap Shuman awarded SEC Fraternity President of the Year

Chap Shuman is a senior at the University of Georgia (UGA), studying Real Estate in the TerryCollege of Business. In Chap’s time at UGA, he has been an active member of the Interfraternity

Council, serving as the President of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity in 2021. As a result of his efforts, Chap was named the 2021 UGA Interfraternity Council President of the Year.  This achievement was decided by the UGA Greek Life Office, and Chap was selected out of group of 25 other fraternity presidents.

He was presented this award “in recognition of outstanding chapter leadership in the role as President, displaying leadership that embodies the pillars of the UGA Arch - Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation.”

Along with this accolade, Chap was also recognized as the 2022 Gregory R. Singleton Interfraternity Council Member of the Year. This award “recognizes an undergraduate Interfraternity Council fraternity member in the Southeast who is a role model to their peers and consistently illustrates what it means to live with integrity and by the values of their organization.” 

Chap was the only recipient of this award out of the entire Southeastern Conference (SEC). In light of these awards, Chap received the Patrick Mell Scholarship, which is awarded to UGA fraternity men who have demonstrated leadership in their fraternity, the Greek system, and on campus.

Chap is the 21-year-old son of Mark and Victoria Shuman of Reidsville.
