The South Tattnall Middle School (STMS) Warrior Softball team was victorious for the 2022 regular season with an undefeated region record of 8-0. The overall season record, to include non-region games, was 9-4. The team hosted post-season playoffs at the Glennville Recreation Department.

During round one of playoffs, STMS faced Screven County and won, 13-1. The team then advanced to the second round of playoffs, where the Lady Warriors battled a hard game against the Metter Tigers. The game progressed into extra innings, and the score was tied, 1-1, going into the eighth inning. The STMS Lady Warriors came up short in the eighth inning, and the final score was 3-1, with Metter coming out on top.

The Lady Warriors held a hit-a-thon fundraiser on September 16. The team raised a total of $3,139, and Kaylan Bragg, the highest fundraising athlete, received a 2022 Louisville LXT. She raised $1,115 and also helped a fellow teammate raise $250. During the hit-a-thon, the athletes hit a round of 15 balls, scrimmaged for three innings, and enjoyed a players versus parents kickball game where the players won by just one run.

Each year, the eighth-grade players are also recognized for their dedication, hard work, and leadership. This season’s event was held on September 22, and 10 8th grade Warriors were honored: #5 Abby Barratta, #24 A’Nyia McMillain, #4 Emily Smith, #13 Hannah Dasher, #21 Kiera Metzger, #23 Kinslee Harold, #6 Madelynn Moody, #7 Shaniya Cook, and #1 Taylor DeLoach.

Head Coach Kristin Barratta and Assistant Coach Callie Stanfield are proud of the hard work and determination of the team. They appreciate the support from not only the parents and the school but also the community.
