Macey Ansell and Keilyn Murphy were named to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) Class AAA South All-State basketball teams.
Murphy, a 6-foot senior guard from Tattnall County, was a pivotal pierce of the Warriors’ success this season. He was a two-way player who did a little bit of everything on the court.
Murphy helped propel Tattnall County to a 19-7 record and an 8-0 mark in the region. For the season, Keilyn averaged 9.3 points per game, five rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks.
His high point game came against Appling County on February 1 when he scored 20 points, including 18 of which came in the first 10 minutes of the game. He did not miss a shot including four three-pointers.
The Warriors finished the season as region runner-up and lost to Johnson-Savannah in the first round of the state tournament.
Murphy is the son of Adam and Courtney Murphy of Statesboro.
Additionally, Ansell was named to this all-state team for the ladies. Ansell is a 5’11” senior forward who led the Lady Warriors in scoring and rebounding. She averaged 13.7 points per game, with 11 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.
She helped guide Tattnall to a 18-8 record, with 7-1 in the region. The Lady Warriors were the region 1-AAA runner-up, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen of the state tournaments where they lost to eventual state champion Lumpkin County.
Ansell is the daughter of Patrick and Lisa Ansell of Glennville.
