football

The Tattnall County Battle Creek Warriors traveled to Blackshear on Friday, November 3, 2023, and lost to the No. 2 ranked Pierce County Bears by a score of 31-0.

Pierce County jumped out to 14-0 first quarter lead and added two more scores in the second period and took a commanding (28-0) halftime lead.

The Bears would later add a field goal in the third stanza and held for the 31-0 victory.

Pierce County got on the board first with a 15-yard run by Marquez Legett off left tackle early in the first quarter. Moments later the Bears scored on a short run to make the score 14-0.

The Warriors’ offense continued to have trouble gaining any momentum against the tough Bears defense in the second quarter. Pierce County struck pay dirt on a 66-yard touchdown toss from Caden  Mcgatha to Joe Drew. Tattnall County had a defender in position to make a play on the ball, but he fell down on the play and Drew raced untouched into the end zone. The Bears led 21-0. Pierce County’s last touchdown of the half came on a 7-yard run by Elijah Howard. That score put Pierce in front (28-0) at the half. The Bears then kicked a field goal in the third quarter to cap the scoring on the night and took the (31-0) Region win. Tattnall County finishes the season at (2-8). Pierce County ends at (9-1).

Tattnall County will lose this group of seniors to graduation this spring: Isaac Brown, Xavier Friendy, Coleman Grant, Tashawn Grant, Greg Edwards, Jaden Mayner, Andre Anderson, Leviticus Butler, and Daquan Gardner.
