This week in Tattnall County will be a festive one, beginning with the Glennville Garden Club Tour of Homes on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The homes include those of Brad and Ashlea Anderson, 91 Doll Rogers Road; Allison Cobb, 707 Teal Lane; and Neal and Cindy Anderson, 1877 Hencart Road. Tickets, at $20 each, can still be purchased at several locations: in Glennville at The Journal Sentinel office, Central Pharmacy, Glennville Bank, Wiregrass Designs, or by calling 912-237-0248; in Reidsville, at The Journal Sentinel office. Tickets can also be purchased at the Glennville Garden Club Center Thursday beginning at 5 p.m. You are requested to visit the Garden Club Center first for a wristband. Refreshments will be served at the Glennville Garden Club Center.
Then, on Friday, beginning at 4 p.m., the annual Glennville Christmas Celebration of the Season event will take place on downtown Barnard Street. The afternoon will include a golf cart parade, entertainment, food and craft vendors, children's inflatables, and lighting of the City Christmas tree at the Stage at Barnard area. This event will end of 7 p.m., so bring the family for this fun event and include some Christmas shopping from these creative vendors.
Then on Saturday, Cobbtown's biggest annual event will take place at 3 p.m. This is their famous parade, one of the biggest in this area. The day, known as Christmas Cobbtown Style, includes entertainment, food and craft vendors, and local shops with an abundance of items for sale.
Also, on Saturday is the Tattnall Productions' "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," with two shows at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Glennville City Auditorium. Tickets are still available at $15 each at Strickland's Pharmacy in Glennville. This production, co-chaired by Kim Tatum, Melissa Cook, and Jennifer Bland, is sensational and will surely usher you into the Christmas spirit in a special way with the delightful entertainment.
The following weekend is also filled with events, including the laying of the Remembrance Wreaths at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville on Saturday, December 14, at 12 noon, a reverent and touching ceremony that will engender deep feelings of patriotism and thoughts on the many soldiers buried there who valiantly served their country of America.
Also, the evening of December 14 brings the Reidsville Lighted Christmas Parade at 6 p.m., sponsored by the Greater Tattnall Chamber of Commerce (GTCC) Junior Board. Line-up begins at 4 p.m. at Reidsville Recreation Department, and GTCC is hosting food vendors at the Reidsville VFW Park beginning at 4 p.m. If you have never attended this lighted Christmas parade, you are missing one of the area's best holiday treats.
