Deanna Teague, a mother of four children, continues to lead the charge for fundraising for new, safer playground equipment at the Glennville Recreation Park. In speaking to Glennville Rotary Club members at their Wednesday, August 5, 2026, meeting, she admitted she had stepped out of her comfort zone for these efforts.

However, she was encouraged by her mother-in-law, Angela Weaver-Main, to coordinate the funding needs for the replacement of toddler playground equipment at the park.

"My motive was to make a positive difference in my community, especially for young children who enjoy playing on this playground equipment. I first talked to Logan and then Henry about the condition of the equipment, and some of it was rusted in places and broken, and these items were removed for the safety of the children," said Deanna.

"We raised almost $15,000 in a month, thanks to the first $5000 from Marco's Pizza (Zuber Malek) and other generous donations from businesses and individuals in the community. I was really overwhelmed by the amazing generosity and concern from so many people, including Kim Crow at the Glennville Chamber of Commerce, who has assisted me," said Deanna, pointing out that other $5000 donations have been given by Glennville Bank, Canoochee EMC, Rotary Corporation, and South Georgia Bank, with South Georgia Bank accepting donations in an account for this playground equipment fund project.

"We are almost there, just about $5500 short of our goal of $31,000, so just a few more contributions can help us reach our goal to begin ordering the equipment," said Deanna, with Glennville Rotary Club members, businesses, and individuals encouraged to send a check or make a deposit into the playground equipment account at SGB in Glennville.

If you would like to support this project, send your check to Glennville Recreation Dept., Attn: Children's Playground Equipment, 320 Veterans Dr., Glennville, GA 30427 or deposit into the playground equipment account at SGB.
