Abbey Noelle Hutcheson, a recent graduate of Tattnall County High School, is this year’s recipient of the PAGE Dr. Alton Crews Future Georgia Educators Scholarship awarded by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation. The $500 scholarship is awarded through the PAGE Foundation to a member in good standing of an affiliated Future Georgia Educators (FGE) chapter who plans to pursue a career in education. Hutcheson is a resident of Lyons, Georgia, and plans to attend East Georgia College.
The scholarship was established to honor Dr. Alton Crews, a respected Georgia educator, who distinguished himself as a school superintendent and as PAGE president. Dr. Crews was a visionary leader who recognized the need to recruit and nurture successive generations of professional Georgia educators through initiatives such as Future Georgia Educators.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, the PAGE Foundation’s core business is fundraising in support of Professional Association of Georgia Educators’ (PAGE) initiatives that provide professional learning, build leadership qualities, and enhance professional competence and confidence. The foundation also works to encourage and receive charitable support benefiting PAGE’s competitive academic programs such as PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR), PAGE Georgia Academic Decathlon (GAD), and the PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades. Additionally, the foundation works closely with PAGE to provide scholarships for aspiring and veteran educators.
As the largest independent educator association in the state and nation, the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) exists to support its members who serve in every Georgia public school. PAGE provides unparalleled legal coverage, legislative advocacy, professional learning, grants, and scholarships. PAGE honors and encourages educational excellence through student programs including Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR), Future Georgia Educators (FGE), Georgia Academic Decathlon (GAD), and PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades.
