Optim Medical Center-Tattnall has announced that it is one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement in 2024, according to new research released by the leading resource consumers use to find a hospital or doctor. Healthgrades identified the 100 Best hospitals for 16 of the most common specialty care areas – recipient hospitals represent the Top two percent of hospitals for each specialty. This distinction, along with additional 2024 accolades from Healthgrades, including the Joint Replacement Excellence Award and 5-Star in Total Knee Replacement, reflects Optim Medical Center-Tattnall’s outstanding clinical performance and distinguishes it as one of the country’s leading hospitals. In fact, Optim Medical Center-Tattnall is the only hospital in Georgia to be named one of Healthgrades’ America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement in 2024 and receive the Joint Replacement Excellence Award for 11 years in a row (2014-2024).
"In our unwavering commitment to patient safety and excellence, Optim Medical Center-Tattnall has achieved a truly unique distinction. In fact, we are the only hospital in Georgia to simultaneously earn the distinction of being named one of Healthgrades’ America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement in 2024 and maintain a remarkable 11-year consecutive streak of the Joint Replacement Excellence Award, spanning from 2014 to 2024. This remarkable combination underscores our team's dedication to providing top-quality joint replacement care,” stated Dr. Don G. Aaron, Chief Medical Officer. "This holds significant importance for patients as it empowers them with the choice of healthcare, assuring that when they choose us, they are selecting the highest standard of care for their joint health."
The 2024 Healthgrades analysis revealed that the variation in performance among hospitals continues to widen, making it increasingly important to seek care at top-rated programs. From 2020-2022, patients treated at hospitals among America’s 100 Best for Joint Replacement have, on average, a 65.6 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication than if treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*
Healthgrades evaluates hospitals solely on clinical outcomes: risk-adjusted mortality and complications. By focusing on what matters most, patient outcomes, the Healthgrades ratings provide consumers the information they need to find a hospital that excels in providing the care they need. The 2024 hospital assessment evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 35 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to identify the top performers.
“Healthgrades congratulates Optim Medical Center-Tattnall for being a national leader and demonstrating a deep commitment to providing high quality care to all patients,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. “As health systems nationwide endeavor to elevate the quality of care, these elite facilities provide a roadmap for success.
