On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, both John Herbert Mincey and Meahki Asahmad Carter were taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal’s Service, Leon County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tallahassee Police Department in Tallahassee, Florida.  Both inmates are currently being held in the Leon County Jail awaiting transport back to Tattnall County, Georgia.  These were the inmates that escaped from the recreation yard at the Tattnall County Jail on October 10, 2022.

Sheriff Sapp would like to thank all that were involved in the capture of these two individuals including the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Department of Correction Canine Unit, the Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, Leon County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tallahassee Police Department.

Both inmates have been charged with the new offense of Escape in addition to their original charges.
