The Community Support Center, located at 121 W. Barnard Street in Glennville, recently completed two weeks of free tutoring for students five years of age to 13 years old, with a total of five students attending.  The classes included tutoring in reading, math, English Language Arts, and social studies.

The children met July 8-11 and July 15-18, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon each day. They were also treated to lunch each day, thanks to the generosity and donations provided by Zuber Malek from Glennville DQ and Marco’s Pizza, Doris Riley, Harriet Carey, Mary Sue Porter, and Center Director Angie Henry.

Volunteers included certified teacher Kayla Garrett and student volunteers Dixie Waters (Tattnall County High School), Maggie Dasher (Pinewood Christian Academy), and Shawn Hunter (Claxton High School). Paid certified teacher was Jimmie Nell Cain.

The children attending received book bags filled with school supplies and books to read, donated by the Community Support Center and volunteers.

“We had a productive two weeks, and these children were very attentive and welcomed the opportunity to improve in their various areas,” said Director Henry
