The Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) Clay Target Team traveled to Baygall Sporting Clay Club in Rocky Ford on Saturday, September 17, 2022, to compete in their second season meet. Eight teams challenged the Patriots for a top spot.

The competition was comprised of 200 targets spread out over two sporting clay courses. One hundred and four shooters took to the courses, and the Patriots, proving that hard work and practice pays off, placed first in team competition with a cumulative score of 863.

Following behind PCA was Bulloch Academy with a cumulative team score of 811. Rounding out the top three was Savannah Country Day with a cumulative score of 790.

Team scoring is determined by adding the scores of the top five shooters from their respective teams.  Pinewood’s top five shooters and their scores were Miles Hendrix 184, Abi Pazderski 174, Chris Driggers 174, Cade Quick 166, and Ethan Stavriotis 165.

In individual overall scoring for the tournament, the three of the top five places were earned by shooters from PCA. Owen Haas, from Savannah Country Day, took the top spot in the individual scoring, busting 190 clays for the day. Pinewood’s Hendrix placed second; Pazderski and Driggers placed third and fourth, respectively; and Aidan Caldwell from Aquinas followed in the fifth spot, shooting a 173.

“It was a good day. The team, as a whole, is getting better with each meet, and our veteran shooters are consistently improving. That’s what we need as we head toward the State competition in November,” PCA Clay Target Team Head Coach Jarin Lewis said.

The Patriots travel to Forest City Gun Club in Savannah this Saturday to compete in their next meet.
