Retired Sergeant Raymond E. Grey, passed away at the age of 92 years on August 23, 2022, at his step-son’s home in Collins, Georgia. Raymond will be interned with his wife, Ruth, of 25 years in a small city outside of Boston, Massachusetts.
Raymond started his LASD career in February 1962, and worked several different assignments including Mira Loma, Altadena, San Dimas, Intelligence, Auto Theft, Research and Development, and Headquarters Detective Bureau where he retired as a budget Sergeant in February 1982. Raymond was a member of Academy Class 92.
Raymond was a U. S. Veteran with the United States Marines who served his country for 12 years as a Master Gunnery Sergeant over seeing several U. S. Embassies in foreign countries.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ruth Ann (Hull) Grey.
Mr. Grey is survived by his children, Patrick (Lisa) Mazzeo, Anthony (Karen) Mazzeo and Timothy Haner; a brother; Ron Grey; grandchildren: Austin, Mark, Michael, Kevin, Sabrina, C.J. Mazzeo and Caitlyn Mazzeo - Garfield; great -grandchildren, Caleb Venner-Hines, Ashton and Carson Mazzeo and nieces and nephews, Shelly, Victor, Ron and Sandy Grey, Shawney Schnabel, Debbie MiladelaRoca, John, Frank and Ray Kerfoot.
Services will be held at a later date.
