Also, those formerly voting in the Tison polling precinct will now go to the Watermelon Creek Baptist Church at 8882 GA Highway 144 W., Glennville. Due to significant damage from rain to the Tison polling place, the Watermelon Creek Baptist Church will now be the new polling site for Precinct 9, District 5, for future elections, too. This shows commendable partnership between the church and the county, with a savings to the county in not having to maintain a building that is just used a few times a year, at the most.
Voting is a right and responsibility as an American citizen. Exercise that right since citizens in so many other countries do not enjoy this fundamental ability to decide those who lead and govern them. Take this right seriously and make sure you make it to the polls on Tuesday, November 5, or early vote this week through Friday, November 1.
Other contested offices on the ballot are for U.S. House of Representatives District 12; Tattnall County Commissioner District 4; and Reidsville District 2, Ward 2 council member. There are also two proposed Constitutional Amendments and one Statewide Referendum Question on the ballot.
Of great importance to Tattnall Countians is the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), which needs a YES vote to keep providing the many services citizens in the county and in all the cities need, including infrastructure. This is especially a win-win for all property owners in the county, since without SPLOST our property taxes would be much higher.
If you need to look at a sample ballot before voting, feel free to visit either of The Journal Sentinel offices in Glennville or Reidsville. (Also, a sample ballot was printed in the October 10 edition of the newspaper.)
