Tattnall featured two events this past week that began with a fireworks display held at Tattnall County High School (TCHS) the evening of Thursday, July 4th, 2024. The display brought hundreds to the site who sat on blankets or chairs to view the spectacular colorful lights.
Then, on Saturday, July 6, beginning at 3 p.m., the Picnic in the Park event was held at the Glennville Recreation Park, which was chaired by Laurie Bergeron. Although decades ago, fireworks displays were held at the park, last Saturday's event included food and craft vendors, music provided by the Tattnall Shriners, and children's activities with bounce houses provided by Party Harbor. Cornhole tournament winners were Tyler Stanfield and Skyler Bacon.
Even though rain threatened the Saturday afternoon event, the afternoon and evening were spared from a downpour, which instead came around midnight on July 6. Hundreds of families were gathered on blankets and in chairs to watch the 9 p.m. fireworks display that was set from the north side of the Recreation Park pond.
"We appreciate all the support from the Picnic in the Park Committee, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and those who came to patronize the vendors and watch this dynamic fireworks display. All of you helped make this first annual Picnic in the Park a tremendous success," said Laurie.
