Wanda S. Allen, who was elected earlier this year as the Tattnall County Commissioner of District 5, was administered her oath of office in a brief ceremony on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the beginning of the Tattnall County Commissioners' meeting on the second floor of the courthouse. Allen's election is a milestone for Tattnall County; she is the first female to be elected as a Tattnall County Commissioner. Tattnall Probate Judge Gloria Dubberly administered the oath of office to Allen.
Allen will begin serving January 1, 2025.
Also, District 5 Tattnall County Commissioner Bill Kicklighter was administered his oath of office as Chairman of the Tattnall County Commissioners by Dubberly and will begin serving his first term as Chairman January 1, 2025.
Tattnall Commissioners and incumbents Ricky C. Jarriel, District 1; Bobby Kennedy, District 2; Billy Conley, District 3; and Wayne Tatum, District 4, were sworn in for their next four-year term at the meeting, too.
While Allen was administered her oath, she was flanked by Grady Blaxton, son Zach Allen, and sisters Jane Branch and Betty Ann Brannen.
Kicklighter was joined by his daughter, Tara Griffin, and his wife, Robbiette, at the event.
Family members of the other commissioners were also in attendance in the audience.
