The first Art and Wine Fest in Glennville was an overwhelming success this past Saturday, October 26, 2024, held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Stage at Barnard area.

"We were extremely pleased with the response, much more than we had anticipated for this first event.  The weather could not have been better.  Everyone seemed to have a good time. We appreciate all the participating vendors, who we have been told liked this opportunity to showcase their items and talent," said Lisa Barry, president of the Glennville  Art and Cultural Society, a new organization that was formed earlier this year for the purpose of bringing cultural events to Tattnall County.

Other members of the Glennville Art and Cultural Society are Casey Ellis Butler, Jennifer Bland, Donna Blocker, Emma Dasher Hagan, Suzannah Williamson, Amanda Barry, Cassie Barry, and Camy Bland.

These members have worked tirelessly for weeks to provide a relaxing, inviting, entertaining, and wonderful evening of socializing. Those who attended expressed their enjoyment and hope to see more such events downtown.

"The band, Boogie Wonderland Band of Atlanta, was fantastic, and we hope to see them in Glennville again," said Donna Blocker.

The vendors were unique, and their displays included appealing handmade items, works of art, and chic boutique selections.  The two food trucks were an added attraction for the evening along with several other food vendors with reasonable prices.  The seating for dining was elegant yet comfortable.

The event also was the first time the community could view the enhancements to the Stage at Barnard area. Fencing, landscaping, a brick walkway, and other additions will add to the enjoyment of this area and encourage further use of the stage and seating area.

Volunteers who assisted in various ways include Julie Blocker, Jeffrey Blocker, Kristi Hernandez, Lacy Parker, Brooke Anderson, Molly Strickland, Gracie Thompson, Anita Dasher, Walt Dasher, Jamie Williamson, Molly Thompson, and Derek Bland.  Special thanks to  Glennville Fire Chief and other firefighters who helped in the cleaning of the parking lot on Saturday.
