Bin boxes caught fire at Bland Farms on the afternoon of Friday, April 9, caused by some burning limbs.

A large black cloud of smoke filled the sky after the fire spread to reach these bins, reported to be seen 20 miles away. Bland Farms CEO Troy Bland said in a Facebook post that no onions, onion packaging, or buildings were damaged.

“We are incredibly lucky it wasn’t any worse than it was,” Bland said.

Bland also thanked local first responders who helped get the fire under control quickly. Tattnall County Fire and Rescue, Reidsville Fire, Glennville Fire, Rogers State Prison Fire, Smith State Prison Fire, Evans County Fire, and the Tattnall County Sheriff Office were dispatched to a fire at Bland Farms.
