The 2024-25 school year for Tattnall County public school students began on Thursday, August 1, 2024, and opening day was reported to go smoothly at all five schools in the county.
Total enrollment for the system is 3,583 students (3,405 plus 178 preK), which compares to last year's total enrollment of 3260 students at the beginning of the 2023-24 school year. This number is expected to fluctuate for several weeks, however. South Tattnall Elementary will be adding an additional pre-k class of 20 students in the coming weeks.
The current enrollment by school is as follows: South Tattnall Elementary School (STES), 746 plus 80 preK; South Tattnall Middle School (STMS), 383; Tattnall County High School (TCHS), 1,101 plus 18 preK; North Tattnall Middle School (NTMS), 442; and North Tattnall Elementary School (NTES), 733 plus 80 preK.
All Tattnall students are allowed to eat a free breakfast and lunch at each of the schools.
"Thank you to our teachers, administrators, and parents for an organized first day of school. With new principals at STES, NTES, and STMS, these first few days of schools have shown we have made the right choices for administrators. The first few days are certainly challenging each school year, and we appreciate everyone's patience as we adapt to a new year," said Tattnall Superintendent Dr. Kristen Waters.
