At the Tuesday, August 13, 2024, Ludowici council meeting, the city officials assured citizens that the city water supply is safe. This was backed up by the testing by J&G Services, Water/WasteWater Solutions, whose owners/operators, George Keithley and John Floyd, confirmed at the meeting that testing had been conducted and the analyticals showed that no water/sewage violations existed.
Keithley stated a temporary loss of water pressure had occurred but even with the flooding that happened last week from the excessive rain, especially on the days of August 5 and 6, no violations had occurred.
Their assertions were aired at the meeting due to a request by Mayor Jim Fuller since information had been disseminated in the local Ludowici newspaper of a release of thousands of gallons of sewer tainted water.
"The sewer pond never ran over or had the issues that were printed," said Ludowici Mayor Jim Fuller.
"We need to commend George and John as well as Steven Day, supervisor of the Water and Sewer Department, for their work during the worst of the storm," said Mayor Fuller
