On Monday night, March 10, 2025, during a called meeting of the Long County Commission, commissioners voted unanimously (4-0) to hire Charles W. “Chuck” Scragg as the new Long County Manager.
Mr. Scragg previously served as Long County Administrator from March 2019 to July 2020, resigning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He is currently the president of his consulting firm, Community and Economic Development Solutions, and has also held the positions of Brantley County Manager and Pierce County Manager in Georgia. Additionally, he spent 31 years with Georgia Power Company as an industrial and business site selector and recruiter.
He will begin his role in mid-March under an initial six-month contract with the possibility of extensions.
Upon his selection, Mr. Scragg said, “I am honored to be considered and selected as the Long County Manager, and I look forward to assisting the Commission, the Constitutional Officers, and the employees of Long County.”
