Glennville Rotary Club recently presented a donation of $1000 to the Tattnall County High School (TCHS) Drama Club. The funds will be used for costumes, props, and other items for the Battle Creek Players’ upcoming one-act play, “Back Cover.”  It is to be performed on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the TCHS cafetorium under the direction of TCHS One-Act Play Coach and Drama Department Director Hannah Hutcheson.

The donation was made in memory of Shawn Waters, the son of Rotarians Terry and Pam Waters, a 1991 graduate of Glennville High School (GHS). He was involved in the one-act plays and other performing arts activities while a student at GHS. Shawn was named Best Actor in the region the year the school’s one-act play placed first in region competition. He was also involved in the choreography and performances of the Anderson Christmas Play of years past, which for ten years, under the direction of Angie Anderson and the late Dale Anderson, thrilled audiences in the Southeast Georgia area.

“Shawn could sing, dance, and act, and he would be very pleased that these funds are being used to promote the performing arts program at TCHS,” said Pam Waters, with the donations made to the Glennville Rotary Club in Shawn’s memory after his death in November of 2022.

The 2024-25 Battle Creek Players who will be representing TCHS this year include: Cast - Genevieve Stone, Amelia McLeod, Jasmine Heuett, Myleigh Lechot, Jason Perdue, Jeremiah Ray, Americus Arnold, Lexi Smith, Ariana Myrick, Adilynne Horn, Kylie Morris, Karley Rodriguez, Abbagale Winningham, Addison Iddins, Cambrece Germano; Crew- Natalie Vigil, Elizabeth Brogdon, Jeffrey Gibson, Lucas Aldrich, Mikey McFadden, Abbey Wilds, Alonte Austin, Avalyn Bonin, Dakota Hebden, Kaden Fincher, and Makaylah Jenkins.
