Glennville Rotary Club recently presented a check for $450 to the Glennville Faith Riders for their Wreaths Across America project of placing Remembrance Wreaths at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in December of each year.  Accepting the check on behalf of the Faith Riders were members Donnie Epperson and Steve Long.

"We appreciate all that your group does in supporting this effort and the time you spend in raising funds for this worthwhile project that honors our deceased veterans. Thank you for your presence and civic contributions to our community," said Joe Sikes, president of the Glennville Rotary Club in presenting the check to them.

This year's Remembrance Wreath ceremony will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Cemetery located on Hwy. 301 N./N. Veterans Blvd.  The placement of Remembrance Wreaths at the national cemeteries in December has become a nationwide project, and the Glennville Faith Riders is dedicated to this each year.

According to Glennville GVMC  Director Ernie Cowart, approximately 2400 burials are now at the Glennville veterans' cemetery.

The cost of the wreaths increased from $15 to $17 each this year.

As one of their many projects, the Glennville Faith Riders work to ensure that all graves of United States Veterans have a wreath placed during this service held nationwide each December.  All wreaths sponsored locally are placed at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.

Forms to sponsor a wreath are available at the Glennville office of The Journal Sentinel or by visiting www.wreathsacrossamerica.org. Wreath purchases can be made in honor of, or in memory of individuals.

"Each year, it becomes more of a struggle to place a wreath on each grave. We add an average of 125 veterans to our cemetery in Glennville each year," said Donnie Epperson, who has been a tremendous force for the Glennville Faith Riders, one of its co-founders and who works tirelessly, along with other members, to procure funds for this Remembrance Wreath placement.

In addition, the public is invited to this 12-noon ceremony on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.  Several other groups assist and participate in this impressive ceremony and placement of the wreaths.
