At the request of the Evans County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agents are investigating a shooting at the Relax Inn on U.S. Highway 301 in Claxton, Georgia. Four people were shot and injured in this incident.
Preliminary information indicates on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at about 7 a.m., the Claxton Police Department and the Evans County Sheriff’s Office responded to 911 calls regarding a shooting. When officers arrived at the motel, they found four people suffering from gunshot wounds. The identities and conditions of the victims are being withheld at this time.
Two of the four victims who were shot and injured were pronounced dead at the motel. They have been identified as Shalonde A’Jessica Stevens, age 27, of Statesboro, GA, and Taylor Samone Clark, age 26, of Statesboro, GA.
They will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab where autopsies will be performed.
The GBI has arrested Celeste Denise Adams, 23, of Waynesboro, Georgia, for the shooting that killed two and injured two. She is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Adams turned herself in to the Evans County Sheriff’s Office.
