Robert Lee Presgraves, an inmate at Toombs County Jail, escaped custody of a Toombs County Detention Center employee on Thursday, May 5, 2022, and has not been located as of May 10.
Presgraves, 39, was attending court that morning when he escaped, wearing dress pants with a light color dress shirt and a black tie.
He fled from the area and stole a large Pineland Paper box truck, later located at the dead end of Mount Moriah Road in Toombs County.
An extensive search began in this area, which is primarily wooded, swamp, and creek/river area.
Presgraves was on bond multiple theft charges and weapons charges while attending a drug rehabilitation center. During his sentencing on Thursday, Presgraves received a prison sentence and was taken into custody for these charges.
Since this incident, Presgraves has been charged additionally with Escape, Simple Battery, and Theft of a Motor Vehicle.
Presgraves is a white male, 5’11”, 184 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. If located, please do not approach Presgraves and call 911 immediately.
The Toombs County Sheriff’s Office requested and received the assistance of the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office, Lyons Police Department, Georgia State Patrol (Post 18 Reidsville), Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit, Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit, and the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Division.
