Cam Davis sets new school mark in track

Tattnall County High School junior Cam Davis set a new school record in the 400 meters at Class AA State Track and Field Championships held in Commerce, GA, on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Davis ran the

400 meters in a blazing time of (49.71). The previous best school time was (50.40); Davis took 4th in the finals.

The boys’ 4x100 meter relay team also made the finals by blistering around the track in the time of (42.46) in the preliminary round, a season best. The Warriors then ran a (43.74) to also take 4th place in the finals on Saturday.

The 4x100 team members were Xavier Ross, Damarion Calhoun, Cam Davis, and Trey Rogers. Also competing at the State Meet was Stephen Bacon, 14th place, 800 meters (2:07.81).

The ladies’ 4x400 meter relay team placed 14th with a time of (4:23.76). Team members were: Kirstie Collins, Emma Hutcheson, JaBryhia Smith, Jaya Calhoun and Zaria Yancey, 13th place,

300 meter hurdles (49.97).
