South Tattnall Middle holds off North Tattnall, 16-6

The South Tattnall Middle School (STMS) Warriors' football team traveled to Reidsville on Thursday, September 28, 2023, and defeated the North Tattnall Middle School (NTMS) Warriors, 16-6, at historic Danny Scott Field.

South Tattnall got on the board in the first quarter on a 65-yard touchdown run by #7 Shayon Guest. Michael Murphy ran around the right end for the two-point conversion, and South Tattnall led, 8-0, with 2:58 left in the opening quarter. After North Tattnall punted, South Tattnall would add to their lead early in the second quarter. South Tattnall got into scoring position with a long pass to the North Tattnall 28-yard line. A few plays later, South Tattnall scored on a two-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was good, and South Tattnall took a 16-0 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, North Tattnall took the opening possession and marched deep into South Tattnall territory. But they turned the ball over with a  fumble at the South Tattnall 17-yard line. The third quarter ended with South Tattnall still leading, 16-0. North Tattnall tried to make a game of it after #7 M.J. Foreman scored on a six-yard run with 5:13 to go. The two-point try failed, and South Tattnall’s lead was cut to 16-6. But South Tattnall would hold on and take the win, 16-6.

This Thursday, South Tattnall will host Metter at 5 p.m., while North Tattnall travels to Screven County. This week wraps up the regular season for both teams.
