Roy Dean Anderson, age 65, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Evans Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Reidsville on September 2, 1956, and had lived in Tattnall County all his life.  Mr. Dean retired after 39 years of service from the Tattnall County Board of Commissioners as a heavy equipment operator.  He enjoyed working on vehicles, tractors, and combines.  His main hobby was spending time with his grandchildren.  He was of the Baptist faith.

 He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Corene Hendrix Anderson; grandparents, Dwight and Bessie Anderson; special uncle, William S. Anderson; special sister-in-law, Becky “Boss” Anderson; parents, LeRoy and Annie Rene Anderson; and sister, Nena “Sis” Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Anderson of Reidsville; children: Cassandra (Robbie) Barnard and Matthew (Hannah) Anderson, all of Reidsville; siblings: Kay (Charles) Oge of Louisiana; Danny Anderson (Beth Ray) and Merrill (Ann) Anderson, all of Reidsville; grandchildren: Camryn Barnard, Courtney Barnard, Ava Anderson and Jackson Anderson; mother-in-law, Bertha L. Flowers of Reidsville; sister-in-law, Theresa Jackson of Reidsville; special K9 companions, Chase and Macie; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on August 11, 2022, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial, with the Rev. Jeffery Barnard officiating.  Interment was in Anderson Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Hank Sikes, Alex Williams, Allen Sharpe, Barry Blaxton, Justin Lively, and Stevie Durrence.

The family would like to thank Ashlyn Johnson and rest of the staff of Kindred Home Services for the love and care shown to Mr. Anderson.

Low Country Cremation and Burial served the Anderson family.
