Ricky D. Bland, age 59, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. He was born November 10, 1962, to Tully and Georgia Bell Daughtry Bland, and he lived here all his life. Ricky was a 1980 Glennville High School graduate and was Vice President of his class. He was employed with Claxton Poultry for 28 years, and he loved his family dearly. Ricky had a love for hunting, baseball, fishing, cutting grass, working on tractors with his brother, and being outdoors. He was a member of Wildcat Bay Hunting Club, Tombstone Hunting Club, and First United Pentecostal Church of Glennville. Ricky’s larger-than-life personality would light up a room, and he will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sonya Bland; and sister, Shava Jean Durrence.
He is survived by his wife, Katina Fennell Bland of Glennville; children, Colt Bland (Roxanne) and Eli Bland, all of Glennville; siblings: Maurice Bland (Joyce) of Broxton, Joanne Barrow of Springfield, and Leah Burkhalter of Glennville; one grandson, Chase Bland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation began at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at First United Pentecostal Church of Glennville. Burial was private.
Pallbearers were Devin Durrence, Brian Bland, Richard Burkhalter, Morgan Durrence, Landon Taylor, Tyler Stewart, Ryne Stewart, and Diego Jasinski.
