Bernice Murphy, age 88, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Bethany Hospice. She was born in Tattnall County on April 25, 1934, to Stinglish Hall and Leila Wilkerson and had lived in Glennville most of her life.  She was the Matriarch of the family and would spend hours each day on the phone checking on everyone.  Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker that loved to read and tend to her flowers.  She was a member of Beulah #1 Church in Mendes and was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clinton Murphy, Sr., children, Frederick Bell, Earnest Lee Cox, Luella Murphy and Michelle Murphy; sisters, Lula Wilkerson and Odessa Robinson, and a sister in law, Linda Eason.

She is survived by her children, Peggy Ford of Glennville, Bobbie Jean Hall of Glennville, Clinton (Shirley) Murphy, Jr. of Collins, Annette Scott of Virginia Beach, Gwenda Murphy of Glennville and Cynthia Williams of Glennville; brother, Theotis Hall of Columbia, SC; sister in law, Janice Washington of Mendes; special friends, Anthony Smith, Gregory Porter and Daphnie Ford; a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Bethany Hospice for the extraordinary care that was given to Mrs. Bernice.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 26, 2022 from the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022, from the Chapel of Glennville Funeral Home with Reverend Carol Collins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Roberts Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Preston Murphy-Mobley, Clinton Murphy, Jr., Quinton Murphy, Jarroit Williams, Jarvis Murphy and Tommy Ford.
