Fredna Ansley
Fredna Ansley accepting award as 2024 Collins Citizen of the Year from Collins Lions Club President Kenneth Jarrell.

Fredna Sisson Ansley was awarded the title of Collins Citizen of the Year for 2024.  This award is sponsored by the Collins Lions Club. The ceremony took place on a very breezy and cold night on November 30, 2024, in the Olie Parker Park in downtown Collins.  Music, refreshments, and the official lighting of the city Christmas tree accompanied the awards presentation.

Fredna was born in Cobbtown, GA, to Malcolm (M.L.) and Alice Cooper Sisson.  She married her high school sweetheart, Ray Ansley, and together, they had three children: Dallen, Darren, and Denna.  Fredna graduated from Collins High School as Salutatorian.

She has great love for Tattnall County and its people, and her contributions are numerous and varied. She started working as a Postmaster Relief in Collins.  Afterwards, she worked in the Metter post office before returning to Collins as the Postmaster.  Notably, she was the first female City Carrier of the post office in Metter.  She also served as Postmaster in Cobbtown and Pulaski for a number of years.

Fredna is a faithful and long-time member of Collins First Baptist Church.  She has served in almost every leadership position in the church at some point in time.  Fredna is a multi-cancer survivor; and she has lost two of her three children to cancer.  Her faith is evidenced in her unwavering devotion to the Lord and serves as a role model for others to follow when dealing with tragedies and personal crises.

This award was bestowed upon her based on her lifetime of service and dedication to this community.
