The Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) District tournament was played last week, June 10-June14, 2024. This tournament is something all-recreation all-star baseball and softball teams work hard to prepare for, as it determines who gets invited to play in the State Tournament at the end of the month. To get the invitation to compete in the prestigious GRPA State Tournament, teams must finish 1st or 2nd in the District tournament.

Glennville Recreation had a historic week, as all seven teams earned their invitation to play for the State Title. Glennville had five District Champions, three of which were undefeated and two Runners-up.

"This year has been incredibly special for our young athletes. Typically, we are excited to send two or three teams to the State Tournament, but to have all seven teams earn their way into the big tournament is unheard of. I'm not sure that it's ever happened here. I’m very proud of our kids. They have put in a lot of hard work and are setting a new standard for Glennville baseball and softball. I'm very thankful for our volunteer coaches who have poured so much time and energy into our kids, and I am also very grateful for the parents of our players. The parents have been tremendously supportive all season. We couldn't have had the success that we did without them," said Glennville Recreation Director Logan McCullough.

The 2024 GRPA State tournament will begin Tuesday, June 25. If you would like to see any of the Glennville All-Star teams in action, here is a list of each team’s 1st game date/time/location
