One man arrested for Reidsville abduction; another at large

Richardson has been arrested, and Mincey is still at large.

The Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and the Reidsville Police Department (RPD) responded to a residence in the area of St. Helena Street in Reidsville in reference to an abduction on Friday, May 27, 2022, at approximately 7:00 p.m. 

An investigation was conducted by the TCSO Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and it was determined that a male teenage victim was forced into a vehicle near the intersection of St. Helena and Collins Street by two male offenders. The victim was then transported to a nearby residence where he was physically assaulted and threatened with a firearm. The victim was then taken to the Brazell Creek Bridge on Highway 280 and forced over the edge. While walking back to his residence, the victim was able to seek help and medical attention. 

The Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 32-year-old Sanchez Richardson of Reidsville and charged him with one count of Kidnapping, one count of Aggravated Assault, one count of Terroristic Threats and Acts, one count of Cruelty to Children in the 1st Degree, and one count of Simple Battery. 

In addition, warrants have been issued for 30-year-old John Herbert Mincey of Reidsville for his involvement in the incident. Richardson is currently being held at the Tattnall County Jail and Mincey is currently at large. Further investigation has determined that the victim was mistaken for another individual that the perpetrators suspected to be involved in another theft case.
