The Tattnall County High School (TCHS) Warriors and Lady Warriors both brought home the Region runner-up trophies from the Region meet held at Pierce County High School in Blackshear on April 26 and 28, 2022. 

Both teams finished second to Appling County, who took home the Region title for the girls and boys. 

The Lady Warriors were paced by a good group of senior athletes. The first-place winners for the Lady Warriors were 4x800 relay team members: Tamia Brown, Paris Coney, Jayla Calhoun, and Kinsley Hutcheson. The top four finishers in each event will advance to the state sectionals meet this Saturday, May 7, in Commerce. 

Jasmine Johnson set a new TCHS school record with a leap of 33’11”.

100-meter dash: Seantene Small, second place (12.84); Jasmine Johnson, fourth place (13.19); and Kirstie Collins, eighth place (14.06)

200-meter dash: Jasmine Johnson, fifth place (28.04); and Joanna Skeens, eleventh place (31.75)

400-meter dash: Aniyah Conyers, second place (1:04.62); Jayla Calhoun, seventh place (1:11.92); and Gladys Cabrera, ninth place (1:16.04)

800-meter run: Gladys Cabrera, fourth place (2:59.98); Kinsley Hutcheson, sixth place (3:02.22); and Paris Coney, seventh place (3:02.50)

1600-meter run: Lilly Clark, sixth place (7:20.07); and Samarah Finely, eighth place (8:39.69)

3200-meter run: Kinsley Hutcheson, second place (15:34.76); and Lilly Clark, third place (16:58.74)

100-meter hurdles:  Seantene Small, third place (17.69)

300-meter hurdles: Tamia Brown, second place (50.88)

4x100 meter relay: Tamia Brown, Trinity Robinson, Seantene Small, and Jasmine Johnson received second place with a time of 50.08.

4x200 meter relay: Kirstie Collins, Jayla Calhoun, Trinity Robinson, and Aniyah Conyers received second place with a time of 1:54.61.

4x400 meter relay: Tamia Brown, Trinity Robinson, Aniyah Conyers, and Kirstie Collins received second place with a time of 4:50.13.

4x800 meter relay: Tamia Brown, Paris Coney, Kinsley Hutcheson, and Gladys Cabrera received first place with a time of 12:41.48.

High jump: Aniyah Conyers, fourth place (4’10”)

Long jump: Seantene Small, third place (15’9”); Trinity Robinson, fifth place (15’5”); and Joanna Skeens, sixth place (14’4”)

Discus: Heavenly Mincey, tenth place (61’6”); and Dejanae Smith, eleventh place (60’6”)

Shotput: Dejanae Smith, eighth place (27 ft); and Heavenly Mincey, eleventh place (24’2”)


In boys’ action, Tattnall’s first-place winners were: Axel Sierra in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:59.05 and Gregory Edwards, who took first in the discus with a throw of 134’3”. 

“I am extremely proud of these guys and their performance in the Region track meet this past week,” Warrior Track Head Coach Ty Stegar said. “This is a young but very talented bunch.  We will have 17 guys competing in the state sectionals meet this Saturday.”

3200-meter run: Jaden Grimes, fourth place (11:45.01); Jacob Hill, tenth place (14:04.33); and Nathan Aaron, 12th place (14:33.56)

100-meter hurdles: Josiah Anderson, third place (17.04); and MyRhon Addison, fourth place (19.25)

300-meter hurdles: Damarion Calhoun, third place (43.76); Jeremiah Mayner, fifth place (46.03); and Josiah Anderson, ninth place (48.38)

4x100 meter relay: Tyrone Brown, Xavier Friendy, Malcolm Addison, and Jeremiah Mayner received second place with a time of 44.06.

4x200 meter relay: Xavier Friendy, Isaac Brown, David Hill, and Tyrone Brown received third place with a time of 1:33.76.

4x400 meter relay: Isaac Brown, Axel Sierra, Jaycer Cruz, and Damarion Calhoun received second place with a time of 3:44.57.

4x800 meter relay: Axel Sierra, Stephen Bacon, De’Andre Lester, and Nathan Aaron received second place with a time of 9:26.27.

High jump: Damarion Calhoun, fourth place (5’8”); and David Hill, fifth place (5’8”)

Long jump: David Hill, third place (19’7”); Stephen Bacon, fourth place (19’6”); and Jeremiah Mayner (19’3”)
