Anya Cain selected as STAR Teacher at Brooks County High School

Anya Cain, a math teacher at Brooks County High School with ties to Tattnall, was selected by STAR Student Lexi Patterson as her STAR teacher for the 2021-2022 school year.   

Cain is the daughter of Patricia Cain and the niece of Jimmie Nell Cain of Glennville. She is a 2001 honor graduate of Tattnall County High School. 

After high school, she attended Valdosta State University (VSU), from where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Secondary Mathematics Education. She next earned a Master’s of Education degree in Accomplished Teaching, and then an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction, both from VSU.

Anya has been teaching for 15 years, with this her ninth year at Brooks County High School in Quitman, Georgia. She was also selected as STAR teacher in 2016 and 2021.

Patterson plans to attend Valdosta State University where she will play softball for the college.
