PCA Shotgun Team places first in second qualifier of the season

On September 23, 2023, the Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) Shotgun Team traveled to Rocky Ford to compete in their second qualifier of the season, at Baygall. Out of the six teams vying for the win, Pinewood came in 1st with a score of 859, 44 birds over 2nd place, which was a tie between Robert Toombs Christian Academy and Bulloch Academy.

CA’s Top 5 shooters on the weekend were:

(3) CJ Strickland (172/200)

(4) Rans McCall (171/200)

(5) Bryson Dutton & Ethan Stavriotis tied for 5th with (165/200)


PCA Shotgun Team participated in the Rivers & Glenn Junior Shootout, on October 7 and 8, at Forest City Gun Club in Savannah. This tournament is a little different than the normal qualifiers, because anyone still in school (middle school thru college) are allowed to compete. Rather than being ranked as a team, the majority of the awards that are earned are done so individually or with a three- or five-man squad. Several shooters achieved their personal best scores to date, several shot perfect rounds of skeet and trap, and several also made the podium. Sophomore Landyn Fries had a spectacular day, winning the Ladies HOA (High Over All) award as well as being PCA’s Top Shooter.
