The Glennville Recreation Department (GRD) hosted the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) District 1 Class C tournament for 12U Softball on June 5- June 7, 2023. This would be the first GRPA district tournament that Glennville has hosted since 2019. This year, seven teams entered the tournament with hopes of representing District 1 at the state level. Out of the seven, the tournament Champion and Runner-up would move on to play in the GRPA Class C State Tournament hosted by Jeff Davis County Recreation Department on June 20.

The 12U Glennville team proved to be the best that the District had to offer, winning four straight games to secure the Championship over Wheeler County. Through those four games, Glennville outscored their opponents, 62-5.

“We are incredibly proud of our girls and coaches. They came prepared and played their hearts out with class. This group is really special and have been an absolute pleasure to work with,” said Glennville Recreation Director Logan McCullough.

Head Coach Charlton Rogers, on the outcome of the tournament, said, “I want to thank Logan McCullough and his staff. They hosted an outstanding tournament.  It was awesome to win the district on our own fields. We have a great group of girls, and they have worked really hard with great attitudes. We have had to deal with some injuries, and, because of this, some of our players have moved to different positions. We now have about a week and half to prepare for the State tournament in Hazlehurst.”

The Glennville Recreation 12U girls will be facing off against Jeff Davis on June 20 at 4 p.m. in Hazlehurst, if you’d like to show your support.
