Dr. Ricky Arthur, Sr., has been selected by the Committee for Social Change to serve as Grand Marshal of the Saturday, January 13, 2024, Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in Glennville.  The theme for this year’s celebration is “Hope for Peace and Unity.”

Parade line-up begins at 9 a.m. at Hwy. 301. S. and Banks Street, with the parade beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will continue down Hwy. 301 N., turning left onto Hencart Road and ending at Church Drive.  At the end of the parade, a ceremony will be held at First African Missionary Baptist Church at 600 Church Drive. The event will include vendor food and craft booths on the grounds of the church. All booths are $25 each.

Parade entries should be submitted no later than January 8, 2024, to P.O. Box 24, Glennville, GA 30427.

Arthur, who attended school in Glennville, later attended South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia. He also attended Trinity Temple College of Religion in Hinesville, and it has advanced him to another degree, his Doctorate of Christian Education, which he earned in 2018.

Currently, Dr. Arthur is pastor of Beulah #1 Baptist Church in Glennville and Durden Grove Baptist Church in Twin City.  He also is employed by Chemtall as a senior production scheduler.

“Being chosen as the Grand Marshal for 2024’s Martin Luther King Day Parade is quite an honor and humbling experience,” said Arthur upon being notified of his selection.
